Lupin Part 4 has premiered on Netflix, bringing Omar Sy back as gentleman thief Assane Diop after a three-year wait. All eight episodes were released at once on Friday, October 23, 2026, according to Netflix’s official release schedule.

The Lupin return is one of the biggest international streaming events of the autumn. The French heist series, inspired by Maurice Leblanc’s Arsène Lupin stories, first arrived in 2021 and quickly became one of Netflix’s most successful non-English-language dramas, with Part 3 following in October 2023.

A Copycat, A Prison And A Frame-Up

Part 4 picks up after Assane gave himself up to protect his family. Now serving his sentence, he is forced back into action when a copycat using the Lupin name targets museums across France, leaving evidence that points directly at Assane.

The premise flips the series’ usual formula. Instead of Assane planning a heist, he must escape custody to clear his name and hunt down the impersonator, all while the authorities tighten security around his family. Netflix’s synopsis and early coverage describe a prison break, a manhunt and a mastermind who understands Lupin’s rules as well as Assane does.

Omar Sy returns as Assane and now also serves as co-showrunner alongside Louis Leterrier, a change that gives the star more creative control than ever before, according to trade reporting. Ludivine Sagnier, Antoine Gouy, Soufiane Guerrab and Shirine Boutella also return.

Why Part 4 Feels Bigger

Early coverage of Part 4 notes larger, more cinematic set pieces, including museum heists staged on a bigger scale than earlier seasons. Critics quoted in launch coverage praised Sy’s performance and the season’s emotional through-lines, while some noted that the expanded scope occasionally loosens the tighter, character-driven storytelling of earlier parts.

For viewers catching up, the story so far is straightforward: Assane, inspired by the Lupin books his father gave him as a child, used disguise and misdirection to expose the powerful Hubert Pellegrini, stole the Black Pearl in Part 3, faked his death and then surrendered. Part 4 begins four years on, with Raoul now a teenager.

Netflix has not confirmed a Part 5, but with all eight episodes available from launch day, the new season is designed for a full weekend binge — and for the kind of global conversation that made Lupin a breakout in the first place.
