King100 Glimpse Casts Tabu as Fierce Political Matriarch

Spread the love

King100 unveiled its first glimpse of Tabu on Wednesday 4 November, and the King100 Tabu glimpse introduces her as Mahanthi Jhansi Rani, a powerful political matriarch who believes the world is divided between those who trust hard work and those who trust luck — and who loathes the latter. The glimpse, released on Tabu’s birthday by Annapurna Studios, marks her reunion with Nagarjuna Akkineni after 28 years, since Ninne Pelladuta (1996) and Aavida Maa Aavide (1998).

Not love this time — war

According to Filmfare and Cinema Express, Tabu’s character is a formidable matriarch who commands respect and authority, seen taking the oath of office in the glimpse, with a voiceover declaring her contempt for people who believe in luck. Nagarjuna’s own message on X, quoted by Filmfare, framed the reunion pointedly: “This time, it’s not love… it’s war.” That tagline, carried on the poster, signals a face-off rather than a romance between two actors previously known as a romantic pair.

The Freedom Press, citing IANS, reports that the glimpse suggests Tabu’s character hails from a royal family and is involved in politics, while Cinema Express notes this is her first Telugu film in six years and her first prominent role in a Nagarjuna-starrer. Pinkvilla describes the glimpse as a 50-second video, while other coverage describes a longer character reveal; the exact runtime varies by cut, so this post does not state a single runtime as fact.

A December clash already in view

King100, written and directed by Ra. Karthik and produced by Annapurna Studios, is Nagarjuna’s landmark 100th film as a leading actor and is scheduled for worldwide theatrical release on December 24, 2026, according to all sources reviewed. That date puts it in direct clash with Shah Rukh Khan’s King, according to IDiva and Hollywood Reporter India — a Christmas showdown between two films with near-identical titles. Tabu’s glimpse is the first salvo: a political heavyweight, introduced on her birthday, in a film that has already announced its intention to fight for the holiday audience.
