Prince William and Princess Kate have postponed plans for a major visit to Australia, with concerns surrounding King Charles’s health said to be influencing the Royal Family’s schedule. The William Kate Australia tour delay was reported on 4 November 2026, and it will disappoint royal watchers who have waited almost a decade for the couple to return Down Under.

After Kate announced that her cancer was in remission, royal watchers began hoping that she and William might travel to Australia for a joint visit. The Princess has since completed a meaningful solo trip to Italy, but the much-anticipated Australian visit has yet to materialise. Now, a report by New Idea suggests that the King’s health has been an important factor behind the delay.

The King’s Health “a Huge Factor”

According to the publication, William and Kate have not yet accepted an invitation from Australia’s Prime Minister, despite continued interest in welcoming the royal couple. The report also highlighted William’s connection with Australian conservationist Robert Irwin, who has reportedly been keen to see the Prince visit his family’s wildlife park.

“The King’s health has been a huge factor stopping them from committing to a big tour,” an insider claimed, according to the report. Charles’s cancer diagnosis and ongoing treatment have placed additional attention on the responsibilities carried by other senior members of the Royal Family, and a long-haul tour would take both William and Kate away from the UK for an extended period.

Not Officially Confirmed

It is important to be clear about the limits of this story. The claim that Charles’s health is the main reason for the delayed Australian visit has not been officially confirmed. Kensington Palace has not announced a definitive date for the proposed trip, and the report suggested that competing royal commitments have also repeatedly pushed the couple’s international plans back.

It has been almost a decade since William and Kate last travelled to Australia, making another visit particularly anticipated by royal supporters there. The report suggested Australia remains on the couple’s list of destinations — but for now, the tour remains on hold, and the Palace is saying nothing about when it might happen.
