Funke Akindele is taking her latest movie, The Four: No One Fights Alone, to London’s ODEON Luxe Leicester Square for its world premiere, marking another international milestone for Nigerian cinema. The London premiere, announced on 29 October 2026 as part of a partnership between Funke Akindele Network and Facebook, will be followed by a homecoming premiere in Lagos, according to Bona Naija.

A December date, a London stage

The film is scheduled to open in Nigerian cinemas on Friday, 11 December 2026, with FilmOne Entertainment handling distribution, according to GhanaNews24. The UK premiere takes place on 29 November at one of London’s most prestigious cinemas, and Facebook is expected to support activities bringing together celebrities, content creators and audiences to celebrate Nigerian storytelling on an international stage.

The story and the cast

The Four is an emotional drama about friendship, motherhood and resilience, centred on four women and the lengths they will go to in protecting someone whose future becomes important to them. Akindele wrote, directed and produced the film through Funke Akindele Network, and stars as Labake alongside Bisola Aiyeola, Chioma Akpotha and singer Waje. The wider ensemble includes Richard Mofe-Damijo, Timini Egbuson, Lateef Adedimeji, Ali Nuhu, Uzor Arukwe, Ronke Oshodi Oke and Antar Laniyan, with Afrobeats artist Shoday also appearing.

December is her month

Few filmmakers in Africa can match Akindele’s box-office pull. Her December releases have broken record after record: A Tribe Called Judah (2023) became the first Nigerian film to cross ₦1 billion; Everybody Loves Jenifa (2024) earned about ₦1.88 billion; and Behind the Scenes (2025) closed at about ₦2.1 billion, becoming the first Nollywood film to cross ₦2 billion. According to FilmOne, she is the first filmmaker to rank number one at the African box office for three consecutive years.
