Mahindra has expanded the XUV 3XO range with a CNG-powered variant, priced from Rs 9.99 lakh ex-showroom, according to MotorBeam.

The new version targets buyers who want the lowest possible running costs without giving up SUV space, and it arrives as fuel prices remain a top concern for Indian families.

Affordable Running Costs Are the Point

The XUV 3XO CNG focuses on affordable running costs, according to Newskart’s round-up of recent launches, which also covers the Toyota Glanza facelift, the Audi Q3 and the Renault Duster Hybrid.

CNG has become a popular choice for high-mileage drivers, since the fuel typically costs far less per kilometre than petrol or diesel, even though the tank takes up some boot space and refuelling stations are less common on highways.

At Rs 9.99 lakh, the CNG variant undercuts most rivals in the compact SUV segment, and it gives Mahindra a value option alongside its petrol and diesel versions.

Who the CNG Version Suits Best

The CNG XUV 3XO makes most sense for city drivers and daily commuters who cover long distances and have easy access to CNG stations, where the fuel savings add up fastest.

Buyers who regularly travel long highway distances, or who need maximum boot space, should weigh the trade-offs and compare the petrol version before deciding.

As with any new variant, buyers should confirm on-road prices, waiting periods and variant features with an authorised dealer, and check CNG station availability on their regular routes.

With running costs at the front of buyers’ minds, the sub-Rs 10 lakh starting price is likely to make the CNG version one of the most talked-about value launches of the month.

Before choosing a CNG car, map your regular routes against CNG station locations. City commuters with stations nearby will save the most, while drivers who frequently travel rural highways may find refuelling inconvenient. Boot space is another practical check, since the CNG tank reduces luggage room. Weighing those everyday realities against the fuel savings gives a much better answer than the sticker price alone.
