The Rumpelstiltskin meme, set to Riff Raff’s song “Tip Toe Wing In My Jawwdinz,” is the number two trending meme in the United States as of October 24, 2026, according to ViralMeme.ai. The viral clip shows a small, imp-like figure tiptoeing and dancing in a barn, and it has been viewed tens of millions of times across platforms.
The original video was posted on Instagram on August 27, 2026, by AI artist Tatyana Tereshchenko with collaborators, as an example of a fantasy film made without a camera or actors, according to Know Your Meme. Its old-film look was so convincing that many viewers first believed it was a scene from a real 1980s movie.
The meme took off when TikTok users paired the dance with Riff Raff’s 2014 track on September 29, 2026. According to Know Your Meme, one X repost by @itsjusttimbro on October 1 passed 13.6 million views, and later tallies put total views across platforms at around 58 million by October 22.
Why viewers thought it was a real film
The clip’s grain, costumes and barn setting mimic an old fantasy movie so well that searches for a supposed 1987 Rumpelstiltskin film spiked, according to trend trackers. NBC News covered the meme on October 7, 2026, reporting that it took viewers days to realise the footage was AI-generated.
That confusion became part of the joke. Captions joked about a lost film, while other creators swapped new characters into the dancer’s place, from television characters to their own friends, using green-screen edits.
A dance anyone can copy
The dance itself is simple: a finger to the lips, arms out, and tiptoeing steps in time with the song. Real-life recreations followed, including a version by American football players celebrating a touchdown with the same moves, according to Know Your Meme.
As October ends, the meme shows no sign of stopping entirely, even as some viewers say they are ready for it to fade. Whether loved or overplayed, the tiptoeing imp has become one of the defining viral images of autumn 2026.
