The Seattle Seahawks are the favourites to land Indianapolis Colts running back Jonathan Taylor if he is traded before the November 10 deadline, with the New York Giants trailing in the betting markets, according to reports of the trade chatter.
Hard Rock Bet lists Seattle at +225, followed by Denver at +250 and the Giants at +375, while prediction market Kalshi gives Denver a 29 per cent chance, Seattle 28 per cent and New York just 14 per cent. The Giants, at 4-2-1 and atop the NFC East, have been open about their interest — but the odds suggest they are not leading the race.
A high price for a star back
ESPN’s Jordan Raanan reported that people around the league believe Taylor’s price is a second-round pick and possibly more, while NFL insider Jordan Schultz said the asking price is believed to be too high right now — though sources believe a trade is leaning more likely than not.
Taylor has not requested a trade, according to multiple reports, but Indianapolis’s teardown — Quenton Nelson to Seattle, DeForest Buckner to San Francisco, general manager Chris Ballard fired — has made anything possible. His numbers this year are down, but he was sixth in the league in yards after contact per carry last season while leading the league in rush attempts.
Giants staying disciplined
Giants head coach John Harbaugh has said the club must be smart at the deadline, noting: “It’s hard to find players that can make you better, because we have good players. Very good players. So, it’s got to be something that is a need, that fits your financial profile, that fits your price tag.”
That discipline may cost them Taylor. Seattle and Denver, both with clearer needs and stronger odds, look better placed to meet Indianapolis’s price. The final week of the window will decide whether talk becomes action — and whether the Giants’ patience proves wise or costly.
The market will decide
Taylor’s situation is the deadline’s biggest domino. If Indianapolis lowers its price, the race could swing quickly; if it holds firm, the most likely outcome is no deal at all. The odds favour Seattle and Denver, but odds are not deals — and the team that blinks first in the final 48 hours usually wins the player.
