Kenyan rapper Stevo Simple Boy has announced his separation from partner Brenda after DNA test results confirmed he is not the biological father of their son, Dragon Junior, according to Ghafla and Pulse Kenya.

In a statement released Tuesday, October 20, the musician, whose real name is Stephen Otieno, said: “Following the DNA test results, I wish to officially announce that Brenda and I are no longer together as a couple. The results have been difficult to process, but I have chosen to handle this matter with dignity and respect for everyone involved.”

The test results

The announcement was accompanied by a video showing the musician receiving his results from Dr. Peter Ngumba at Microafia Healthcare. “Based on the DNA profile generated from the samples submitted of Stephen Otieno Senior and Stephen Otieno Junior, Stephen Otieno, you are not the biological father; mismatches were observed in 11 samples tested,” Dr. Ngumba explained.

Rumors had swirled for weeks, fueled partly by fans comparing the child’s looks and claims from his former manager suggesting infidelity — claims the manager later retracted and apologized for.

Brenda disputes his account

Brenda has pushed back, claiming in a phone interview with content creator 2Mbili that Stevo long knew he was not the biological father and that the former couple had mutually agreed to raise the child together. She also alleged a tense confrontation at their home after the results were delivered — claims Stevo has not publicly responded to.

Stevo asked fans and the public to respect his privacy as he navigates the chapter, thanking Microafia Healthcare for their professional service.

A painful public chapter

The saga has played out painfully in public, with every twist dissected on Kenyan social media. Through it all, Stevo has asked for dignity and privacy — a request his fans seem willing to honor, flooding his statement with messages of support.

What comes next for the rapper remains to be seen. But after one of the most difficult chapters of his life, Stevo Simple Boy is choosing to move forward — on his own terms.

Kenyan entertainment commentators say the saga has sparked a broader conversation about privacy, paternity and the pressures of living relationships in the public eye.
