When rescuers from Love Furry Friends Animal Rescue received a video about a tiny puppy living near a busy road, they did not hesitate to rescue her. Lucy had lived for a long time near that road, barely staying alive, according to the rescue’s account reported on October 28, 2026. What they did not realise was that Lucy had a mum — and they were both living together on the streets.
Lucy was rescued and brought to safety. After medical care, a bath, some food and toys, she slowly started to transform into what rescuers called the biggest love bug. But when the rescue posted about Lucy on social media, they were surprised to find that Lucy had a mum still out there, somewhere on the streets.
A mum in need of care
The mum — later named Rozy — was first taken to a veterinary hospital, as she was breathing very hard and loudly, the rescue said. She was about eight to ten years old, while Lucy was only 10 months old. Rozy needed care before any reunion could happen, and rescuers made sure she got it.
Then came the moment the rescue had been building toward. Lucy had no idea she was about to see her mum very soon. She was lying sadly in her little bed when rescuer Olena came into the room with her mum in her arms, according to the account.
A tail that said everything
Lucy glanced at them and her tail immediately started wagging uncontrollably. She could not contain her happiness when she recognised her mum, so she started jumping around her and hugging her, the rescue reported. From that moment on, they did everything together, and they did not separate even for a second.
Although both of them had their own doggy bed, they decided to share one. Lucy was finally a happy puppy again, rescuers said — not just safe, but home, with the mum she had been separated from on the streets.
