Tyreek Hill Nears Return as Rams Lose Davante Adams to IR

The Los Angeles Rams’ brutal injury luck continued Tuesday, as the club placed star receiver Davante Adams and defensive tackle Poona Ford on injured reserve — and there is already chatter about a blockbuster replacement.

Adams ruptured his hamstring in Sunday’s 18-16 loss to Arizona and is expected to miss six to 10 weeks, per ESPN’s Adam Schefter. Ford ruptured his triceps and is done for the season. The Rams also lost kicker Blake Grupe to a torn ACL on Monday, signing 35-year-old veteran Brandon McManus — their third kicker this season — to steady the operation.

Adams’ absence guts the passing game: his 30 catches for 480 yards and four touchdowns led the team, and backups Konata Mumpfield, Tutu Atwell and Jordan Whittington have just 13 combined catches all season.

Tyreek Hill watch

Enter the rumor mill. Tyreek Hill’s agent Drew Rosenhaus told ESPN the eight-time Pro Bowler is “continuing his rehab with the goal of being on a team in the immediate future,” and Bleacher Report has already named the Rams the best fit for the free-agent speedster.

Rosenhaus cautioned that “nothing is imminent” and that he is talking with multiple teams — but for a 2-4 Rams team with a closing window and a receiving corps in tatters, the logic is obvious.

Season slipping away

The Rams have lost multiple close games and sit at 2-4 with little margin for error. Kobie Turner is also expected to miss extended time with a groin injury, leaving the defensive interior thin alongside Ford’s absence.

With the November 10 trade deadline approaching, Los Angeles must decide: chase a splash like Hill, or ride out the storm with McManus’ leg and hope Adams returns for a late push.

The math is brutal for Los Angeles. Adams’ 30 catches for 480 yards and four touchdowns led the team; his backups have 13 combined receptions all season. At 2-4, the Rams are running out of margin for error, and the November 10 trade deadline looms as a franchise-defining decision. Hill, an eight-time Pro Bowler, would instantly transform the offense — but at 31 and coming off serious injury, he represents exactly the kind of gamble that can define, or derail, a season.
