Real Madrid vs RB Leipzig ended with the Spanish giants extending their perfect European record. Real Madrid thrashed RB Leipzig 4-1 at the Santiago Bernabéu on Wednesday night, with Bernardo Silva, Arda Güler, Kylian Mbappé and Yan Diomande all scoring on the day José Mourinho celebrated 100 days since his return for a second spell in charge.

Silva broke the deadlock from close range late in a tight first half before Güler doubled the lead shortly after the restart. Mbappé curled home a third, and although Tidiam Gomis pulled one back for Leipzig, Diomande sealed the win with a stunning late volley against his former club.

Mbappé’s relentless scoring run

The French superstar has now scored in each of Madrid’s Champions League matches this season and has 12 goals in 12 games in all competitions. “We know every point is important to get into the top eight; we know we have to win as many games as possible — we’ve won three, and there are five to go,” Mbappé told Movistar.

“I’m doing well (but) I think I can do more,” he added. “I’m one of the few players who always has to demand more from himself.”

Perfect record before the Clásico

The result extended Madrid’s winning streak to four matches in all competitions — a timely boost ahead of Sunday’s La Liga Clásico against Barcelona, who lost at PSG on Tuesday. Mourinho started Vinícius Júnior on the left wing, with the Brazilian serving a four-match domestic suspension, while Thibaut Courtois made key saves to keep Leipzig at bay early.

The victory also preserved Real Madrid’s flawless European record this season, a run built on the kind of ruthless efficiency that defines champions. Mourinho’s side have made a habit of striking at the perfect moment, and Leipzig discovered what so many have learned at the Bernabeu: dominate for long stretches, switch off once, and the game is gone before you can reset.

For Leipzig, there are positives to carry home despite the defeat. They were the better team for half an hour, created genuine chances, and refused to fold even at 4-1 down. But the Champions League punishes naivety, and their defensive lapses were brutally exposed. Mourinho’s century of wins, meanwhile, adds another line to a managerial resume that already belongs among the greats. The Special One marked his milestone with a very special performance from his team.

Three wins from three in Europe has Madrid dreaming of the top eight — and Sunday’s Clásico now looms as the season’s defining week.
