ANA VICTORIA BECOMES THE FIRST DOCTOR WITH DOWN SYNDROME
At 25 years old, Ana Victoria from Zacatecas, Mexico made history by graduating with a law degree from the Universidad Autónoma de Zacatecas, becoming widely recognized as the world’s first practicing lawyer with Down syndrome.
She completed high school online to avoid the discrimination she faced early on, then took on a legal education system that wasn’t built with her in mind, leaning on her own determination and a dedicated “shadow professor” who adapted the curriculum specifically for her.
Her achievements haven’t stopped at the courtroom either, she’s also a painter whose work has been displayed in Mexico’s Congress. She’s already spoken at multiple legislative forums about her journey, and her next goal is running for local deputy, using her legal background to write new laws that fight discrimination and open up more opportunities for people living with disabilities.
