Jennifer Lawrence has entered the beauty business with the launch of mes°, a biodesigned haircare brand developed in partnership with biotechnology company Arcaea. The Jennifer Lawrence mes° launch, on 27 October 2026, adds the Oscar-winning actress to the celebrity beauty boom — and it is a venture she has been working on for three years.
Lawrence serves as founder of the brand, while Arcaea founder and CEO Jasmina Aganovic leads the venture as CEO. In her launch post, Lawrence said she had spent three years working with Arcaea’s scientists and Aganovic to develop the brand. She joined Instagram in September 2026 as part of the brand’s social media rollout and had amassed 8.4 million followers by launch day. Her launch message was pure J-Law: “So yeah, I’m giving it a shot and if anyone says anything negative I’ll quit immediately.”
Three Products, One Idea
Positioned around the concept of “Unbothered Beauty”, mes° launches with three products designed to combine treatment and styling while extending the time between washes and restyling. The range comprises the Multitask Repair Mask ($52), the Good Roots Volume Mist ($34) and the Off-Duty Restyling Serum ($44). A three-piece set is priced at $120. The collection is available exclusively through the brand’s own website, mesbeauty.com, which currently ships only within the US.
The brand’s philosophy, which it calls In Situ° Design, is about designing haircare not only for how it performs in testing, but for how it performs in the context of real life. Arcaea, founded by MIT graduate Aganovic, has raised $78 million in Series A funding from investors including Chanel, Givaudan and Olaplex.
A Fishy Start
Lawrence has been candid about the messy business of developing the products. She tested an unscented trial version of the Multitask Repair Mask for four days, only for the product to develop an unpleasant odour that prompted a blunt reaction from her husband, Cooke Maroney. “Get a hotel room,” he reportedly told her, after the mask left her hair smelling like fish. The remark concerned the unfinished trial version, not the finished product sold to customers — but it is exactly the kind of honest, funny detail that has made Lawrence one of Hollywood’s most relatable stars.
