Dacia has added full hybrid power to the Sandero and Sandero Stepway, with UK orders opening on November 4 and prices starting at £17,995 — making the Sandero Britain’s cheapest full hybrid.
The Hybrid 155 powertrain pairs a 1.8-litre four-cylinder petrol engine with two electric motors and a small 1.4kWh battery, producing 155hp and accelerating from 0 to 62mph in 8.3 seconds. Dacia says the system allows up to 80 percent of town driving on electric power alone, with fuel consumption up to 40 percent lower than an equivalent petrol engine — and no need to plug in.
The Sandero Hybrid 155 Expression costs from £17,995 on the road, with the better-equipped Journey at £19,295. The higher-riding Sandero Stepway Hybrid 155 starts at £19,295 in Expression trim, rising to £20,595 for the Extreme.
Undercutting the rivals
At £17,995, the Sandero Hybrid undercuts its nearest hybrid rivals by a wide margin — around £2,000 below the MG3 Hybrid and roughly £5,000 cheaper than an entry-level Toyota Yaris Hybrid. It also undercuts the Honda Jazz and Renault Clio hybrids, according to What Car?.
The value proposition is classic Dacia: the Sandero has long been one of the cheapest new cars on sale in Britain, and the hybrid version brings the automatic gearbox and lower running costs that buyers increasingly expect, without the price jump that usually comes with them.
Standard equipment on the Expression includes a 10-inch touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, air conditioning, cruise control, automatic lights and wipers, a reversing camera and Dacia’s YouClip mounting points. The Journey adds a seven-inch digital driver display, connected navigation, keyless entry, heated front seats and steering wheel, wireless phone charging and a multiview camera.
The same deal in Ireland
The hybrid has also launched in Ireland, where prices start from €23,490 in Expression trim, rising to €25,240 for the Journey. The Sandero Stepway hybrid starts at €25,390, with the Extreme at €26,940.
Order books are open now in both markets, with the first customer cars expected in early 2027. For buyers who want hybrid economy at supermini money, there is now nothing cheaper on sale.
